Checking Car Tyre Treads to determine Tyre’s condition

Treads are important part of the tyre’s structure as it helps to remove the water between the tyre and the road, which protects your car from slipping during the turns on wet roads by imparting you the much needed control on your vehicle.

 

When you are buying tyres for your car you should keep in mind different car models have different tyres which suit their requirements. Also, a point that should not be forgotten is to ensure your car tyres have right tread which will provide you the much needed grip on the roads on which you travel.

 

Once you have bought the tyres for your car, it becomes very important to constantly get it serviced to ascertain proper functioning of its all components. Tyres also form part of these components and require constant checking to determine their conditions:

Lookout for tread wear bars:-Tyre manufacturers put special indicators into the tyre structure which can help identify the need of the new tyres seeing that you can easily know it’s time to buy new  Specially designed bars made up of hard rubber which are visible on wearing of treads are such indicators.

 

  1. Check the centre of the car tyre:-Often people overinflate their car tyres which leads to wearing of treads at the centre. Also, driving on the rough roads or terrains causes wearing of treads on sides of tyres.

 

  1. Measuring tyre depth gauge:- As per the rule the car tyres should have at least a minimum tread size between 1.6mm to 2mm. You can measure the depth of thread by a gauge both inside and outside.
